Durham is full of dreamers, but so many of us are transplants who are longing for connection, fulfillment, and meaning. The truth is, it's hard to find what we’re built for if we have not found our people. We believe the way of Jesus offers something vital to our community, especially as we emerge from a traumatic season like the one we’ve all experienced. The way of Jesus is the way of dreamers and adventurers. It’s the way of bridge builders who want to pull up a seat at the table for the person who’s been left out. We are building a vibrant and fresh approach to church for the people of downtown Durham - where creativity, compassion, belonging and purpose come together to bring hope to the heart of our city. We would love for you to be a part of it.
We live in a fast and furious time; an age of information. We will pursue formation by working together to become a community of consequence and substance by looking at the life and ways of Jesus with curiosity, intention, and receptivity.
In a time where we are more connected - yet lonelier - than ever, we will be a community of belonging: a place that you can discover others and become truly known.
We value equity over growth and people over profit. We are living that out by using our space to create a small business marketplace open throughout the week that elevates local makers and artists in a high-rent district. Our rental structure is highly accessible and affordable, and has space for over 100 Durham area small business owners. Learn more over at Pioneers Durham. Through investing in redemptive enterprise and partnerships, we will be a church that matters to our city: to bring justice and hope to our neighbors in a tangible way.
We fell in love with this incredible city when we transplanted for Divinity School at Duke 5 short years ago. We are parents to two wild and perfect little girls, Adalena Rey and Acadia Grove. We are also fur parents to a wild and terrible pup, Kinglsey, and a mischievous cat, Luna. We’ve been pastors in some incredible churches, big and small, for the past decade throughout the Southeast. As we’ve fallen in love with the Bull City and made Durham home, we have sensed God calling us to start a life-giving church for the beautiful people here. Thank you for hearing a bit of our hearts; we want to hear yours. Let’s dream together.
